ING, big winner of the Belgian Sponsorship Awards

The second Belgian Sponsorship Awards ceremony took place last night in front of almost 200 guests at Le Plaza in Brussels. Created and produced by VAAV Communication, this year’s Awards saw increased entries, new companies entering cases, and the addition of two new categories.  The event is now established as the annual meeting place for the major brands of Belgium. Also new this year was the SponsorLive conference held in the afternoon which combined top international speakers with lively sessions such as “Is Sponsorship Always a Happy Marriage?” and live pitches to brands.

The big winner on the night was ING who won three prizes for their ambitious and well planned sponsorship of Mons European Capital of Culture 2015. BASF took the newly created Best Employee Engagement award for RUN4Future with SOS Children’s Villages, a project conceived and managed by VAAV. Other winners were:

  • Best Return on Investment - Delhaize with the Belgian Gymnastics Federation
  • Best Societal -  Electrabel Street Heroes
  • Best Sports -   AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme
  • Best Music sponsorship - Proximus Festivals 2015

To end the evening, the president of the jury William Fenton and Paul Smith CEO and founder of Repucom gave the prestigious Best of Belgium award to ING. The sponsorship case will now represent Belgium at next month’s European Sponsorship Association Awards along with nine other European entries for ESA’s Best of Europe award. Good luck Belgium!
